First lets look at the Scripture’s

John 6 : 48 - 59

48) I am the Bread of Life.

49) “Your Fathers ate the manna in the Wilderness, and are dead.

50)   This is the bread which comes down from Heaven , that one may eat of it and not die . 51)  I am the living bread which came down from Heaven.  If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever;  and the bread that I shall give is My Flesh,  which I shall give for the life of the World . “

52) The Jews therefore Quarrelled among themselves, Saying , How can this  Man give His Flesh to eat””?

53) Then Jesus said to them,  Most assuredly ,  I say to you , unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man  and drink His blood , you have no life in you .

54)Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My Blood  Has eternal life , and I will raise him up at the last day.

  55) For My flesh is food indeed , and My blood is drink indeed.

56) He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood  abides in Me , and I in Him.

57) As the living Father sent Me.  and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.

58)  This is the bread which came down from Heaven  not as your fathers ate the  manna,  and are dead . He who eats this bread will live forever.”

59)These  things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.

From Vs 48 This is One Of the “I Am” Saying’s of Jesus Unique To John’s  Gospel. We See An  Unmistakable Parallel to  God’s  Covenant Name , (Which is YAHWEH) it’s the name By Which He Revealed Himself  To Moses  In The Old Testament in Ex 3:14  it Said’ I AM WHO I AM .”   JESUS Makes The Pronouncement “ I AM ..  The Bread Of Life “

Three Times  We see it In vs 35, 48, 51. )  We see That He Is  The “Real” Heavenly  Bread “” , The true and only  Life- Sustaining Power,, and anything else is of No Religious Significance  in the Past or the Present, everything else is an Inadequate  Substitute .

In the last Verse  Jesus Carried the point on so we could see that He is the Bread of Life and To Believe in Him  means  To Partake Of Him and to Have Life Eternal,,  Without  JESUS  We Have No Life, and If we take a Look at Hebrews 9- 11 on

Hebrews 9 : 11  11)  But Christ came  as High Priest of the good things to come , With the Greater and more Perfect tabernacle not made with hands , that is , not of this creation.  12)  Not  with the blood of goats and calves , but with His Own Blood  He entered the   Most High Place , Once  And For All, having  obtained  eternal Redemption .  13) For if the blood of bulls and goats and the Ashes of the heifer, sprinkling the unclean , sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh

14)How much more Shall the blood of Christ , who though the eternal Spirit offered Himself without Spot  to God Cleanse your Conscience from dead works  to serve the Living  God. 15)  And for this reason  He is the Mediator of the new Covenant ,  By Means of Death  , for the

15)Redemption  of the Transgressions under the first Covenant, that those who are called may receive the  Promise of   eternal  inheritance .  The Mediator’s Death is Necessary.. in vs 16)  For  where there is a testament, there must also of  necessity  be the Death of the testator. 17) For   a testament is in force after men are Dead , since it has no power at all while the Testator lives . 18) Therefore not even the first covenant  was dedicated without blood .  19)  For when Moses had spoken every  precept to all the people according to the law, he took the Blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and

sprinkled both the book itself and all people.     20)   Saying   This is the blood of the  Covenant  which God  has  Commanded  you”.   21 )    Then likewise he sprinkled  with blood  both the tabernacle and all the vessels  of the  Ministry.      22)  And  according to the law almost all things  are purified  with blood , and without  Shedding of  Blood There is No  Remission.

We See Here JESUS  introduced the ideal system toward which the old rituals pointed .  But  His Ministry took place ,  not just  in an  earthly sanctuary,  but in a place of  Heavenly  Realities.

In  Vs 12- 14  Jesus offered as  a  sacrifice ,, HIS  OWN   BLOOD     .   and  if the  sacrifice  of animals  could achieve ceremonial  cleansing . 

How  much more  will the sacrifice of  Christ  cleanse  the  Soul””

For Example a  testament has  no legal  authority  until  after death  of  the one who made it,  i.e if I make a will to leave a House to my  Wife and Children, I must die for them to inherit that house.

As illustrated by the ratification of the first  Covenant , at Sinai  Ex 24 5-8      In  the same  way  , the Death  of   Christ  was  necessary  for  the establishment  of   the  New  Covenant . and as we saw in Vs 21-22    The Ancient  Tabernacle  needed  to  be sanctified  by  the  sprinkling of blood ,  nothing was considered   purified  without the mark  of  shed  blood .

And  as we can see  that without the shedding  of  Jesus Christ’s  Blood   There  is  No  Forgiveness of  Sins.

And it seems  to  me that this all ties  in to us Fully  Understanding why we remember  The blood  Jesus  Christ shed  for us.  Not  just at  Easter  time  but when  we  come  round  the  Lords Table, His  broken  body and  His  Shed  Blood.

I’ve  Taken time  to  point to the importance of  the  blood  Jesus shed  for us today.  As the Bible says the life of the animal is in the  blood, by the same token we  can  all have  Life if we accept  the blood   Jesus  shed ,it  was   so  we  can have  Life Eternal.

This Time Is For Believers Only.

Lets  Read The Last Scriptures  Before We  Come  Round The Lords Table again to gain deep understanding.

  From 1 Corinthians 11 vs 23 – 32  .

  23 )   For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you :      That the Lord Jesus  on the same night in which He  was  Betrayed  took  bread;     24 )   and  when  He had given  thanks , He  broke it  and  Said  ,  Take  Eat  ;  This  is My  body which is Broken  for You  ;  Do  This in Remembrance of  Me .”     In the same manner  He also  took  the Cup after supper ,  Saying ; This Cup is the  New  Covenant   in  My  Blood..   This  do ,  as often as you drink it,  in Remembrance of me”.

26)  For  as often as you eat this Bread and  Drink  this  Cup,  You Proclaim the Lord’s Death Till He Comes. 

27) Therefore  whoever eats  this  Bread  and Drinks this  Cup  of the Lord in an  Unworthy manner will  be  guilty  of the Body  and  Blood  of  The  Lord.

28 )  But  let  a man examine himself, and so  let  him  eat  of the Bread  and  Drink of the  Cup  .        

29 )  For  he  who eats  and Drinks  in  an  Unworthy  manner  eats and Drinks  Judgment  to  himself  ,  Not  Discerning the  Lord’s  Body . 

30 )   For  this reason  many are  week  and sick  among you  ,  and  many  sleep  .   

31 )  For if  we  would  judge  ourselves ,   we  would  not  be  judged .   32 )    But  when we are judged ,  we  are  Chastened  by the  Lord ,   that  we may  not  be condemned   with  the  World . 

   And All This Was Before His Suffering At The Cross.

He is talking spiritually  and pointing people to believe in Him in order that they could obtain salvation , it also teaches us the importance of Taking Communion , it’s  strengthening  to our souls , and bringing’s healing into our lives, and  testifying to our  faith.

In vs 25  We  see the New Covenant    sealed   by  the blood  of Jesus,  this was prophesied  in  Jer 31  That  the covenant  was New  in it’s  nature and  in it’s  content,  securing  the  Forgiveness of  Sins  and  writing  the Law  of  God  on the  hearts  of   believers . And The  old  Ritualistic  System  is  Replaced  by  the  Gospel  Of  Christ which   was  established  by  His  Death  on the  cross at  Calvary.

And in Vs 27 In context   it  states  an  “Unworthy Manner “ this could  be a divisive  attitude  that  desecrates  the meaning   of  the  Lord’s   Supper.  It  does  not  refer  to  a person   examining  his or  her daily  walk with  Jesus  so  as to  partake  in Communion . even though that’s not a bad thing to do, but  to  partake  in  a “Worthy” Manner  is  to  attribute  the full worth  of  Christ’s  Redeeming  work  -- to  this  action  - to partake  with  full -faith  in  his full  forgiveness,  full   acceptance , and full  power  to  restore,  strengthen,  and  heal .

in vs  29  The Lord’s Body  Refers either  to  The   Physical  Body of  Jesus in vs 27  or to  The Corporate  Body  of  Christ , The Church . and in vS 30  it points to some of the people at the Time failing to partake  of the full power potential in Celebration  of The Lord’s Table , or who  had  abused  its  meaning ,  and were  under  affliction,  or had  suffered   premature  death.

But  careful  self  - examining will  help  us  to Avoid  God’s  chastisement, and  sensitive articipation , may prevent  illness  or  death. note there is  more about  God  monitoring  the participant  ,   but  the   main  message  is  to  remember  Jesus  has taken our  judgement. 

So  let  the  believers  take a moment  to  reflect   and  prepare your hearts before  God then  come with  Humility  , Confession,  and  Worship in your  hearts  and  be  strengthened in Him when you next take Communion.
